What is the county like? What can be found there? The various cultural areas open to the public explain about the environment, the territory it's in and make a good starting point for visitors.
Juvinyŕ Castle at Sant Joan les Fonts is a building dating back to the XII-XIV centuries and is one of the few examples of civil architecture preserved from the Middle Ages. Declared a Monument of National Interest it is the seat of the Territorial Interpretation Centre, a space for discovering all the charms of the local heritage.The building is on three floors. On the ground floor there is information on natural water resources and lava; on the first floor, we have information on Sant Joan les Fonts' medieval period; and on the second floor, current information about the municipality and La Garrotxa.
La Cúria Reial, in Besalú, is a Gothic building from the XIV century that was the seat of civil power for the town. Now it is the venue for an exhibition on local history, a tourist information point, and archive for images and other cultural resources.
Interpretation Centre of the Jewish Besalú
This is a space dedicated to the Jewish world and especially the Jews who lived in Besalú between the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. It is also a place where you can watch a video about the heritage of the Jews in Besalú descobret Micvé and Synagogue.
